Baking Together, From Our Family to Yours
At just 16, Peter Gray began baking in a small village shop with a dream to open his own bakery. That dream came true in 1975 with the launch of Nada Bakery in Haitaitai soon to be followed with several outlets around Wellington city and finally opening in Johnsonville where it became a community favourite. Baking has always been a family affair, with the whole family helping in the business. When Peter passed away in 2005, Judith and son Michael continued his legacy. Today, Nada remains a true family bakery, supported by a loyal team and generations of customers who feel part of the story.
Proudly Local
We work with local suppliers wherever possible, choosing quality ingredients from Wellington and beyond. From Wellington milled flour to Whittakers chocolate and Karamu Coffee roasted in Eastbourne, our bakery is built on local partnerships. For over 40 years we’ve also donated food to charities, supported schools and community events, and trained the next generation of bakers.
